This page serves as a transparent report of the data that is collected on wasteof.money.

Data Collected

  • Explicitly entered data (posts, comments, usernames, bios)
  • IP addresses (for moderation)
  • Recovery email addresses (if you connect one)
  • Google user ID (if you login with Google)
  • GitHub user ID (if you login with GitHub)
  • Hashed and salted passwords using industry standard bcrypt (if you have a password set)

Analytics

For analytics purposes, wasteof.money makes use of Plausible Analytics (self hosted) to track privacy friendly web analytics. Information about the data tracked by Plausible can be found here. If you would not like to be tracked, block the analytics.jeffalo.net domain on your device/network.

External Services

wasteof.money is self hosted in Switzerland, however it makes use of the following third party services which help it stay online.

  • Cloudflare is used as a DNS Proxy and as DDoS Protection (privacy, terms)
  • Google reCAPTCHA is used at signup to prevent the automation of account creation (privacy, terms)
  • Google is an oauth provider which is used with the userinfo.profile scope to allow you to login with Google (privacy, terms)
  • GitHub is an oauth provider used to login with GitHub (privacy, terms)

Data Deletion

If you would like data deletion from the servers, please issue a request via the contact email at wasteof.money/contact. In the future, there will be an account deletion button accessible in the settings page.

Note that wasteof.money is currently in heavy development, and there will be many changes in a short time period. You must check this document regularly, and remember that this is just a fun hobby project from a teenager in Switzerland.
