1st: The Eminem Show
It’s so close between TES and MMLP. but I think TES just about has more 10/10 songs, also has no skips and is a bit more palatable. It’s one of my favourite albums ever.
Rating: 8.5/10
Best track: Superman - The edgy writing on this song is sensational - I love the pre-chorus, the catchy chorus, the verses etc. literally everything.
Worst track: Say What You Say - Boring compared to the other tracks.
Underrated track: Soldier - The hook holds up so much
Overrated track: Cleanin’ out my closet - The more serious approach compared to the other singles makes it a less enjoyable listen for me.
2nd: The Marshall Mathers LP
The same as Slim Shady LP, but MMLP has better production, no skips (if you don’t like Kim you need to man up) and more classics.
Rating: 8.5/10
Best track: Criminal - The perfect closing track which is just a huge middle finger. Hook is particularly good.
Worst track: Remember Me - Barely an Em song!
Underrated track: Kim - If you think this a skip you need to grow up. The hook is so good.
Overrated track: None
3rd: The Slim Shady LP
Has a great mix of raw and edgy moments mixed in with more serious songs - very influential for a reason.
Rating: 8/10
Best track: Role Model - Don’t you wanna grow up to be just like me?
Worst track: Cum on everybody - A bit too edgy for me, and a horrendously annoying chorus. Sure this isn’t a shock.
Underrated track: As the world turns - the storytelling on this track is hilarious. It’s such a funny listen.
Overrated track: Guilty Conscience - was expecting more from such an iconic track.
4th: Recovery
The hunger from Eminem, actual good hooks and so many hits on this album, I’m confused why this once very positively reviewed album is now seen as average for many.
Rating: 7.5/10
Best track: No love - Fire verses by Wayne and Em, they contrast together so well. It’s such a great track.
Worst track: W.T.P - Its more silly nature in a serious album along with quite an annoying hook makes this track the worst for me on this album.
Underrated track: 25 To Life - Eminem does well on the verses but the hook takes this song to another level - I think it’s beautiful to listen to, so well done Liz Rodrigues.
Overrated track: Not Afraid - The reason that Not Afraid falls short is that the chorus is Eminem blends in too much with the verses - whilst with a pop-cut as the chorus like on LTWYL it would break up the song better.
5th: Relapse
With the great production by Dr Dre accompanied by some extremely heart-touching and thought-provoking tracks, there’s a reason why this album’s reputation has taken a U turn.
Rating: 7.5/10
Best track: Beautiful - OUTSTANDING TRACK.
Worst track: Hello - It’s boring.
Underrated track: Insane - Don’t mind the gory verses and the hook is so catchy. I do understand why many hated this one though.
Overrated track: 3AM - How was this on Curtain Call 2? The accents ruin this song!
6th: The Marshall Mathers LP2
His last very solid project, MMLP2 has a mixed type of songs, and I appreciate how unique this project is. I do dislike a lot of songs though, which is why this placement may be lower than expected.
Rating: 7/10
Best track: The Monster - I personally loved the Rihanna tracks - she always comes through with a great hook and Eminem comes through with thought-provoking verses.
Worst track: Stronger Than I was - Likely not a surprise if you’ve listened to this album. Yeah, a track where Eminem is mostly singing… it’s not good.
Underrated track: So Far - this track is just so odd and all other the place but it’s such a fun and enjoyable listen.
Overrated track: Bad Guy - it’s 7 minutes and the good bit is in the last 2 minutes. Really overrated.
7th: Kamikaze
Personally his most underrated album - I love the aggression on this one, but it is also filled with sub-par love songs and obnoxious hooks.
Rating: 6.5/10
Best track: Lucky You - A really hard choice with the best track, but I think Eminem’s verse on lucky you where he actually takes accountability that he dropped an L instead of bitching takes it here.
Worst track: Nice Guy - No comment.
Underrated track: Venom - The hook is obnoxious. But this is Eminem we’re talking about, and the vert start and end of the hook is fine. The verses on this track are fire and I love the introduction and the anaphora at the start of the verses.
Overrated track: The Ringer - How does a 5 minute track of Eminem bitching have over 300 million Spotify streams?
8th: The Death of Slim Shady
I like most tracks on his latest album, but the couple of bad tracks, added on top of sloppy storytelling and some unforgiveable bars makes an album that could’ve been so good, just one that’s “above average” for me.
Rating: 6.5/10
Best track: Antichrist - His name is Marshall, he’s the antichrist!
Worst track: Road Rage - Just really obnoxious particularly the hook (shock horror)
Underrated track: Tobey - It’s actually really badass after multiple listens - I still understand why people where underwhelmed it was a single but it’s still a good track.
Overrated track: Brand New Dance - omfg this is trash how do people like it the beat is horrific
9th: Encore
Again, there is some highlights like Mockingbird and there are a few good songs, but it’s the 5 horrendous songs that make this album average.
Rating: 5/10
Best track: Mockingbird - Incredible storytelling with a fire chorus. Love the last verse in particular.
Worst track: My First Single - Was the beat made by a toddler?
Underrated track: One Shot 2 Shot - A decent track with quite a catchy and fun hook.
Overrated track: Encore/Curtains Down - I heard this is one of the better tracks on this album, but I found it such a boring listen and it just drags on.
10th: Music To Be Murdered By
Whilst MTBMB has some highlights like Godzilla and Zeus on the side B, most the tracks I thought were either bad or mediocre, making for a very average and underwhelming project overall.
Rating: 5/10
Best track: Godzilla - Probably not a surprise. Great all round, particularly the first two verses by Eminem.
Worst track: Tone deaf - Beat homicide.
Underrated track: Zeus - One of my favourite Eminem songs ever and would be best song on the album if Godzilla wasn’t on it. A slick hook from White Gold accompanied by a crisp beat with the name drops makes it a great listen.
Overrated track: Darkness - It’s an extremely clever song, but a boring listen.
11th: Revival
From the pop and rock, to the poor singles and even shocking flows (this is Eminem’s best skill normally), Revival is an embarrassment under any name of a top selling rapper.
Rating: 3.5/10
Best track: In your head - I like the zombie sample on this one, and Eminem is passionate on the verses with a nice flow whilst also remaining pallet-able.
Worst track: Offended - A hard pick amongst shit but Offended is particularly abysmal.
Underrated track: Like home - Alicia Keys cooks on the chorus and the track has a nice beat - I like it.
Overrated track: Walk on Water - this track was actually praised by a lot of people when it dropped, even Fantano. I think it’s a boring listen with an underwhelming Beyonce hook.
