consider that your parents could also be lying to you. just don't take anything that anyone says to you about who is good or based on unsubstantiated claims like "the left is lying" completely at face value but instead analyze/assess each side of each political debate and make your own judgements to ensure that your viewpoints are truly yours, not being forced on you. :)
