Here are screenshots of four WarioWare D.I.Y. microgames, all of which I made over a year ago now. I’ve shown two of these games in the past, but I’m pretty sure that no one here has seen any of them yet. Kinda neat, I should play this game again sometime

Here’s an explanation for each:

  • Top left: “Heli Hitch”. Tap anywhere to make the guy jump and latch onto the helicopter. It’s probably the weakest of the four games shown here, but the song is nice.

  • Top right: “Pump It Up”. Tap anywhere to make the guy pump up the balloon. You have to do it seven times or so in the span of the microgame, with each tap growing the sprite a little bit more (a rather difficult effect to make in D.I.Y.). After enough pumps a prompt will tell you to “STOP!”. If you press again, then the balloon will pop. Otherwise, it will begin to float and you win. As an anti-frustration feature, if time runs out during the stop prompt you will automatically win.

  • Bottom left: “Hammer Throw”. You play as the hammer brother. Tapping anywhere will throw a hammer. The opponent is randomized between Mario and Luigi. Your goal is to hit them. You only have one hammer, so it’s important to time it right. I ported all of the sprites and music by hand, and used some rather hacky tricks to get all of the different effects working. This is probably my favorite from a mechanics standpoint.

  • Bottom right: “Sneaky Pants”. It’s a version of the standard “don’t move when the thing is looking” game. Tapping will toggle the player between starting and stopping. The eye will open at a random time during the game, and you have to be stopped when it does. Reaching the right edge of the screen wins the game. The timing is rather lenient; I can beat it pretty easily on even the highest speeds. I made this one a few months after the rest.

Maybe I should record these in action at some point.
