how did elevator social norms even happen? why do we just go silent as soon as we step into an elevator?? how do we know where to look .-.

I think it’s like
one guy figured out how to not be awkward in an elevator and everyone was like “this guy doesnt look awkwards lets all copy him” and it spread like a disease
