why do uk websites have two tlds 😭

It does seem kind of annoying when there are services expecting that you have ownership of the full domain (when you obviously don't own https://co.uk)

co.uk isn’t even registered which is the odd part

i personally like it (and a lot of countries do it the same way) as it’s clearer what’s a government website and what’s not 🤷‍♂️

but we use .gov.uk (and https://gov.uk is its own site anyway) which makes sense but .co.uk just for regular sites and https://co.uk doesnt exist
