to be clear about alpha/beta, wasteof3 (currently the beta site) is being skipped. it's only still online because some people rely on it.
it served as the base for wasteof4 (currently the alpha), which has all the same features but a much better interface and design. i don't think alpha is going to be publicly accessible until it just launches for everyone (and by then wasteof3 will be turned off)
this is a long term plan. the api won't be affected.

maybe they could be a legacy badge that still shows for users who had it before wo4 was released (like discontinued GitHub profile badges that still show for people who used to have a badge, but can’t be collected anymore. maybe they could also change to a greyed out color and say “Legacy Beta” or something when hovered)
