In Sicilia ci sono sedicimila forestali, ma sono tutti precari, cioè stagionali, assunti, ad esempio, per la campagna antincendio (da giugno a settembre). I forestali a tempo pieno e indeterminato, invece, sono pochissimi: cinquecento.
