don't take anytime they say seriously, they don't even take themselves seriously… there's a point people get to when they just say things that they don't even mean just because they're inconsiderate to who they say the things to

people have joked about terrible things, which don't always apply to who they say it to, but they do it so much to the point where they don't consider people who are affected by it… so most likely they don't mean any of it and they just want extra attention, it sucks you have to go through something like that to such an extreme though
