This is not a Bible verse, but I really feel like I need to talk about the differences between guilt and conviction. Guilt is a feeling that makes you feel ashamed, condemned, and worthless because of the wrong things that you may have done. It doesn’t lead to repentance and decreases your hope for redemption. Conviction, on the other hand, is from the Holy Spirit. It makes you realize the sin that you have committed and increases your desire for repentance and to turn back to God.

It is important to know the difference between them. If you feel guilty about something, remember that God is not mad at you, God doesn’t hate you, and is willing to forgive you, no matter what you may have done. Through Christ, we get freedom from that guilt and forgiveness from the sins you have committed. If you feel convicted, respond to it positively and let it bring you closer to God.
