Today’s daily verse: Matthew 7:24. (Sorry for not posting much recently) This verse states how important and lifechanging reading God’s Word and applying it to your life is. Jesus in this verse compares reading/hearing His words (the Bible) and applying what you read to your life with a wise man who builds his house on a rock, where it won’t be washed away when the waves come.

The waves represent the worldly desires, temptations, etc. When they come, we want our house (which is our heart) to not built on the sand, where it will wash away (be caught up in the worldly pleasures and lead us away from God) but for it to be built up high, on a rock, where we will be safe from the waves.

Reading and applying scripture to our lives helps us get closer to God and to not give in to temptations from the devil and to be caught up in the worldly pleasures.

This is not a Bible verse, but I really feel like I need to talk about the differences between guilt and conviction. Guilt is a feeling that makes you feel ashamed, condemned, and worthless because of the wrong things that you may have done. It doesn’t lead to repentance and decreases your hope for redemption. Conviction, on the other hand, is from the Holy Spirit. It makes you realize the sin that you have committed and increases your desire for repentance and to turn back to God.

It is important to know the difference between them. If you feel guilty about something, remember that God is not mad at you, God doesn’t hate you, and is willing to forgive you, no matter what you may have done. Through Christ, we get freedom from that guilt and forgiveness from the sins you have committed. If you feel convicted, respond to it positively and let it bring you closer to God.

Today’s daily verse: John 3:16. The first part of this verse emphasizes how big God’s love for humanity is. His love was so strong, despite our sin, that He came down to earth to bear the punishment for sin (which is death) for us on the cross, so we don’t have to.

The second part of this verse states that if we have genuine faith in Christ, we can enter heaven, which is eternal life with God.

Today’s daily verse: Mark 10:45. In the first part of this verse, Jesus emphasizes that His purpose what to serve others, and not to be served Himself. In contrast to what we often expect of leadership of greatness, Jesus said that true leadership and greatness involves humility and serving others.

The second part of this verse states that Jesus came to give his life as a “ransom” for many. Ransom is the price that is paid to free someone who is captive. In this case, Jesus says that His life would serve as a payment for our sins, offering eternal life through Him.
