that moment when one of your favorite content creators is a content farm for a low-quality animation studio that doesnt respect creative commons and is shady overall :(

youtubers turning out to be sketchy is pretty common and happens to me a bunch, so heres some ways to keep enjoying their content while not supporting bad stuff 👍

  • stay subscribed if you really like them, but when a video comes out, watch it in incognito mode or in another account that isn’t subscribed to the channel, and use either a browser that automatically adblocks or have adblockers on - lowers their % of viewers subscribed and doesn’t contribute to their revenue

  • don’t interact with their videos if you are logged in (no likes, dislikes, comments, shares, etc.); interactions make the algorithm show the video to more people

  • if you openly support the creator, make sure to mention that you separate the content creator from the content (twitter wording also includes the phrases “critical of my favs” and “i separate ccs from content” which makes sense)

  • if you’re talking about the content creator themselves with someone, don’t bring up controversy abruptly or harshly - it could make the other person feel bad if they didn’t know, and just isn’t a very good mindset for someone who still wants to enjoy the creator’s content

this is so relatable. so many youtubers going off their original paths and just going after fame with clickbaity and misleading videos (almost fell for a channel recently, glad i didnt subscribe)

What’s Inside? used to be good (I even have all their merch) but they really fell off recently

aww im sorry :( yeah it sucks when good content creators just aren’t it anymore
