update: my current roommate (who i don’t dislike we just aren’t really friends bc we never talk to each other) picked a random room and ended up picking the empty half of my suite

operation: rooming with the boys is kinda ruined bc i’m way too non-confrontational to ask him to pick a different room if he doesn’t mind doing so

I picked out a dorm for next fall! 0:

i’ll be sharing a quad (two doubles connected by a shared bathroom) with two friends and getting my half all to myself

Bro, you gotta learn to confront. It’s a vital skill that’s only becoming more powerful as fewer people know how to do it. Not only for this situation, but consider how often your being non-confrontational prevents you from getting what you want or need. It’s gonna be stressful in that first moment, but embrace that discomfort. It means you’re growing as a person, and it’ll only get easier.

You could also start talking to him. Make him one of the boys, and the quad will still only hold the boys.

oh i absolutely know how to confront people who’ve actually done crappy stuff and i have broken up with friends before, that’s not the problem. the problem is that he’s too chill for me to feel comfy with essentially kicking him out of the room. even though i’m not super close with him i don’t wanna have this convo bc it literally just boils down to ‘hey can you live somewhere else you’re throwing off the vibes’ which feels really selfish and rude imo. we’ll get along fine with him but he’s like 3 years older and way more quiet than us and probably won’t wanna get involved with our goofy shenanigans. he’s a perfectly fine dude but just isn’t the best fit for us
