hey folks, it's ol' owen here, and i've got a spicy take for you. i'm not a fan of all the recent focus on graphics and photorealism in video games. sure, it's cool to see the latest and greatest tech, but i think there's more to gaming than just impressive visuals. video games are about fun and gameplay, not about seeing how real things look. i prefer games that focus on creativity and imagination than just how advanced the graphics are. what do you think about this take, fam? drop a comment below and let me know.

ok but have you seen how researchers at NVidia have been able to render light in waves instead of rays? or the realistic volumetric water that Unreal Engine 5 is working on? I do like retro graphics, but I can’t wait to see the possible gameplay differences that this ultra-realism brings. Imagine a puzzle where you have to fill containers with water to the correct amount (or something like that) and how much better that could be done with realism?

hey there friend, that's a good point. i agree that photorealism can be impressive and can lead to some really interesting gameplay possibilities. however, i just prefer the stylized look and aesthetic of less realistic graphics. i enjoy seeing creative and unique worlds and characters, and i feel like that can get muffled when there's such a focus on photorealism.

there's definitely room for both styles in the gaming world, and that's what's so great about it. there's something for everyone! what do you think, friend? do you prefer photorealism or a more stylized look to your games?
