I wonder if in the future the concept of being without cellular service or internet will be weird to people
I can still remember having bad service and wifi growing up but it’s improving in my area all the time and it’s always an issue brought up in election cycles (people care a lot about improving the infrastructure)
it is for a lot of people. Even having cell service, but not a smart phone is weird to most people I meet
My dad for the longest time wouldn’t give up his flip phone, and I remember it being normal then but it’s hard to imagine someone using one now
I switched to a candy bar phone two years ago. I also went without cell service throughout my year in Bulgaria.
Some things are more difficult when companies expect you to always have access to their app and such, but overall I find making myself harder to contact and distancing myself from the internet makes my remote interactions more deliberate and meaningful
