hot take piracy is never wrong

people shouldn’t own media/ideas

I think it would hurt the industry, cause why would people spend time making something they can’t even own? Piracy is new, the concept of art was always “If you made this painting, you obv own it, cause there is only one copy of it”. The same even worked with cds or tapes. If it was legalized, people would never pay for a movie/subscription ever again (because there would be a popular piracy website made by a real company that is not on a sketchy domain and filled with spyware, it would be so accessible because it doesn’t have to run from the law). So every movie, game, music corporation would fail, which causes hundreds of thousands of jobs to be useless. The reason people like Taylor Swift is so good at making music for example, is that she dedicated her life to being a musician, she couldn’t spend as much time getting better at music if she had to work another job at the same time. TLDR; pretty sure the quality of all music/movies/games/art would drastically fall if piracy was legal, and everyone had a piracy app on their phone.

and i don’t disagree. However I think there’s a difference between what is right and what is law. I don’t belive the law should be changed. But I don’t believe it’s immoral.

Yep, i agree. I read your statement that “people shouldn’t own media/ideas “ as you saying that copyright for media shouldn’t exist or smth.
