There's a lot of mystery involved. The more recent arcs have been heavy on plot twists and dramatising although that has been present since the beginning. There's little to no focus on individual characters as they all serve StarClan's machinations of "amusement" called prophecies which torture the living cats, and depress young medicine cats like frostpaw and shadowsight and jayfeather and... too heavy on depressed med cats. those kitties don't deserve it . also there's really no character focus in the main arcs (novellas, super editions, etc. don't count because those are character focus). it's almost like the erins use warrior cats to ... subtly create a mashup of (murder) mystery, country simulation, fantasy and practically factual storytelling. there's really nothing else like it.
