Every. Single. Video Compression app on the play store SUCKS, which is why I created Compressor!
Faster than every single compression app on the Play Store. Period.
Uses native Media3 API, not another slow, bulky FFMpeg wrapper
No third party libraries
No invasive permissions (no storage, no internet etc)
Ad free
Super lightweight (< 10MB)
Completely native Kotlin (no React Native slop here)
Works on Android 7.0 and up
Compared to the first non-sponsored search result for “video compressor” on the Play Store, Panda Video Compressor, with over 10 million downloads, Compressor is 117x faster. When tested on my Pixel 8 Pro compressing a 200MB 4K video down to 1080p30 with the Medium preset in both apps, Compressor took only 11 seconds, Panda took almost 22 minutes.
Furthermore, using the highly optimised native Media3 API, Compressor is able to compress that same 200MB video down to just 2.2MB at 720p30, with virtually no difference in quality on a 6” phone screen.
I don’t currently have $25 USD to sign up for a Google Play Console account, so you can get Compressor completely free from GitHub releases (or build it yourself with Android Studio) at https://github.com/JoshAtticus/Compressor/releases/latest
If you like Compressor, please also consider donating even just a few dollars so I can get it onto the Play Store! I will never paywall features or put ads in the app. https://www.buymeacoffee.com/joshatticus

Account created, waiting for Google to verify my ID yippee :D
Update: I've reached over $25 in donations thanks to @busybird15 and @toaks (and also my friend donating $15 AUD who isn’t on wasteof) so once Buy me a coffee pays out in 1-2 weeks, I'll sign up for a Google Play Console account and publish Compressor to the Play Store!

In the meantime, Compressor is on the IzzyOnDroid F-Droid repo, which is added by default in Neo Store and Droidify and can be added to the official F-Droid client https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/compress.joshattic.us

neubot 2026.01.10 is here! The first neubot update of 2026!
Changes:
Unlimited General Queries - General Queries are no longer subject to monthly rate limits.
More Natural Responses - Responses are now friendlier and easier to read.
Improved Home Assistant Support - You can now check if devices are on or off.
Revamped API - The new API makes using neubot in your app even easier! Widgets are now accessible from the API and we simplified the login process.
Modular Codebase - Completely refactored the codebase for modularity, ease of maintenance, and performance.
Developer Resources - Get started with the new API and integrate neubot into your app with the new API Documentation and Developer Portal
New Hosting - neubot is now hosted on the JoshAtticus Deploy infrastructure rather than my personal home server, so it should be more reliable and faster for more users.
You can try the new update at https://neubot.joshattic.us
every week since I got my pixel watch this day in January 2023 fitbit sends me a email telling me I’ve gained 14.5kg and that this is consistent with last week so I now apparently weigh over 2.2 metric tons.
I have never entered my weight into Fitbit

JoshAtticusID is now less annoying to use, by default you now stay signed in for 24 hours rather than 2, and 30 days if you check “Remember Me” while signing in.
When authorising an OAuth2 app you’ve already signed into, you’ll be asked to authorise it much less frequently.
My blog has a new feature, syncing comments from wasteof.money! Comments made on new posts about blog posts here will be synced to the appropriate post on my blog. There’s already some synced comments on the post I’ve reposted if you want to see it in action, comments are synced every 15 minutes but I can make it 30 minutes, an hour etc if needed. The bot may be used to sync comments from other places at a later date, but for now it’s just wasteof.money. https://blog.joshattic.us/bot
edit: oops, it worked on my local testing environment but not in production, it should work soon
edit 2: fixed!

Someone has FINALLY said something about fake 5G. Non-standalone 5G was a mistake and I hate it and we should kill all carriers that label 5G NSA as 5G when it’s more like 4.5G https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSIin43UZ2s
