Compressor on Google Play soon:tm:
Thanks so much to everyone who tested, I got over 50 testers and 100 installed devices, way past the 12 tester requirement!

AliExpress when they see joshaliexpress012 signing out and joshaliexpress013 creating a new account and claiming the welcome deal to get stuff for cheap with a free gift and free shipping
my solution to running out of space for phones is to sell phones I don’t care about for profit so I can fix and buy more I do care about yippee yahoo, I have like almost $700 AUD worth of phones listed on ebay rn, waiting on a screen for a 128GB iPhone 6s to sell that too, then I’m also gonna fix and sell my 64GB 6s and fix and sell my 2nd Galaxy S21
and no I’m not super rich or anything I get all my phones for free from ewaste and family members except my Pixel, the only phone I’ve ever paid for
Upgraded from Pixel Buds Pro 1s to Galaxy Buds3 Pro today
The Picl Coffee Beans have been having intermittent charging issues and they fall out of my ears way too often

the most first world problem I have is that I am running out of vertical space for my phones

Compressor just reached over 100 stars on GitHub in the first week! Yippee! This is the most attention any of my projects has ever gotten :D

Help get Compressor on Google Play!
Compressor is almost available on Google Play, but to do so, Google requires that we have at least 12 testers for 14 days. If you want to see Compressor on Google Play, head to https://groups.google.com/g/compressor-beta-testing to join the testing group and install!
Every. Single. Video Compression app on the play store SUCKS, which is why I created Compressor!
Faster than every single compression app on the Play Store. Period.
Uses native Media3 API, not another slow, bulky FFMpeg wrapper
No third party libraries
No invasive permissions (no storage, no internet etc)
Ad free
Super lightweight (< 10MB)
Completely native Kotlin (no React Native slop here)
Works on Android 7.0 and up
Compared to the first non-sponsored search result for “video compressor” on the Play Store, Panda Video Compressor, with over 10 million downloads, Compressor is 117x faster. When tested on my Pixel 8 Pro compressing a 200MB 4K video down to 1080p30 with the Medium preset in both apps, Compressor took only 11 seconds, Panda took almost 22 minutes.
Furthermore, using the highly optimised native Media3 API, Compressor is able to compress that same 200MB video down to just 2.2MB at 720p30, with virtually no difference in quality on a 6” phone screen.
I don’t currently have $25 USD to sign up for a Google Play Console account, so you can get Compressor completely free from GitHub releases (or build it yourself with Android Studio) at https://github.com/JoshAtticus/Compressor/releases/latest
If you like Compressor, please also consider donating even just a few dollars so I can get it onto the Play Store! I will never paywall features or put ads in the app. https://www.buymeacoffee.com/joshatticus
