This repost is going to be my FINAL post on this matter because I am incredibly angry and I will not be framed as the bad person in this situation.

(TW Homophobia, Religion, Rant)

First of all. How, dare you. How DARE you frame me as the bad person in this situation. How dare you try and blame me, claiming I am “95%” to blame for YOUR choice to leave this platform. You are 95% of the reason I am so ANGRY at this right now. I am absolutely not trying to start drama, I apologise if it comes across that way, I am stating my opinions. I was not being rude. I could write it in a much nastier way if I wanted to. I was not in any way attempting to “make fun” of the Bible earlier today. I posted a quote from an interview from 2018. I do not necessarily agree with everything said, but I agree with most of it. Posting a quote does not instantly mean that I personally agree with the parts supposedly “making fun” of the Bible. But, if we're going to talk about disrespecting the Bible, how about we talk about selectively enforcing the parts of the Bible that apparently mean homosexuality is bad (which once again, does not apply to me AT ALL in ANY WAY because I am not a Christian), but not other parts? How is explicitly disrespecting parts of the Bible but not others not offensive, but apparently me posting an interview quote is? I smell bias here.

As for your “Reddit atheist” part is, I absolutely do not agree with your opinions about me at all, and you know what, that's fine, because everyone is entitled to their own opinion and no opinion is wrong, just like I have my opinion that I don't CARE what the Bible says. I tried to be respectful. I spent genuine time researching to try and respectfully convey my opinion, and you know I got? Snark, ignorance and complete disregard for what I said. Of course I did, because that's what they do, that's what I did when I was a homophobic little shit a few years ago, people were kind to me, I threw it back in their face under the guise of “my religion says so” (while actively not following certain parts of my religion at the time) and they were mean to me back. You cannot call me dismissive and disrespectful when that is exactly what THEY ARE.

And, on that topic, I used to be a Christian, specifically a homophobe too, hiding behind the Bible to spread hate. You know why I'm not anymore? Because I reflected and realised I had zero positive impact on the world and that everybody hated me and probably still does to this day (and rightfully so, I do not hold a grudge against you if you hold one against me for what I said back then), and because it seems the majority of Christians don't actually actively follow the Bible or God's word and just use mistranslations to spread hate.

Every day I feel suffocated from my parents who are homophobic Christians, when I go online, that is my safe space. This is the LAST place I expected to see such BLATANT homophobia, and it absolutely DISGUSTS ME. I do not believe you are a real Christian if you use your religion and the Bible to judge or hate others.

Returning back to my point on your guilt trip, how can you possibly blame me for 95% of this when the ONLY “disrespectful” post I've made was posting an interview quote. Have you seen ANY of the other posts? This feels incredibly targeted and much more like you're trying to frame and guilt trip me rather than express your actual opinions on what's happening.

Bridges have been burned. I used to respect everyone on this platform until a lot of them revealed their true colours. It is not just politics when you use what you stand for to hate my very existence, legal recognition and rights.

I don't care if you're reading this or not, who knows if you even actually left, I don't care how disrespectful this sounds, I don't care if this post gets locked, this is my opinion, I will not be framed as the bad guy, goodbye, this is my final post on this matter, I will be returning to my random miscellaneous tech posting from now on.

TW: Religion, Homophobia.

TLDR: Leaving wasteof temporarily or indefinitely because of drama and the actions of people in this community.

I’m going to be taking an extended break from this platform. Depending on how I feel during the break, it will either be forever, or I may return. If I do decide to permanently leave, I will be making a farewell post. I’m not going to say where I’m leaning towards because truthfully I have no idea. With that being said though, while I have left this way for a while, the recent drama has really exacerbated my feelings on this issue. I'm sorry, but I do not want to be on a platform where I am restricted to either being a homophobe or being a religiously intolerant dipshit. I think everyone participating in this drama should really reflect on their actions, and what they’re doing. I want to write this post to address what I think of the drama, and to provide constructive criticism for both sides, along with what I think @jeffalo should do, so with that being said, I am going to start this “rant”. I hope everyone involved can stay kind and read this with an open mind.

Firstly, I am not Christian, but I do not think you should be posting bible verses on a secular platform that target a belief and lifestyle that an extremely large portion of said platform has. I’m not going to backbite, so I’m going to be open and say that I’m mainly talking to @oren, @busybird15, and to a lesser extent, @luckythecat. While I’m sure you guys do have good intentions, I think the way you guys performed your preaching came off extremely homophobic or disrespectful, and I’d either refrain from it because it’s most likely not going to change anyone’s feelings or actions based on their sexuality or gender identity, or at the very least attempt to preach your religious views on homosexuality with more gentleness and wisdom.

Secondly, for the irreligious folk and the LGBTQIAP2S+ allies, I think you guys are performing in a manner that is similar or worse than how the Christians are acting. I’m again not going to backbite, so I’m just going to say who I’m addressing: 95% of this criticism is going to @JoshAtticus, but it does apply to @owl to a significantly lesser extent. Frankly, I’m extremely upset at you guys (again though, Josh mainly), but I’ll try my best to stay professional but clear where stating my grievances. Josh And Owl, you all REALLY need to think about how the people you’re trying to address would feel reading your messages. I’m not sure whether or not you realized it Owl, but saying that posting bible verses is only relevant during June, even ironically, is still insinuating that their book is worthless when not pride month, and you should have found a less sarcastic/sassy way of getting your point out.

Now, as for Josh Atticus, you’re the one I’m particularly upset that. The reason why is because you very clearly intentionally attempted to make fun of their holy book in a way that is constructive for absolutely no one and it just makes you come off as a reddit-atheist cunt that has no manners and genuine good faith in this discussion. While I get where you’re coming from, and I am also not christian, and heavily dislike Oren’s faith (moreso his branch of Christianity than Christianity itself), partially for personal trauma-based reasons I do not want to get into in this post, you will never help him see it the way you see it if you are doing personal attacks during your criticism of his beliefs. I said personal attacks because religious beliefs are a part of oneself, and most religious people tend to stick with their beliefs heavily. What I’m talking about the most in this post is your very recent post where you called the Bible a mythological book of fantasy, and where you said that you don’t care about their “goddamned religion”. While I do also hold these beliefs, and I personally agree that they should not be able to enforce their religious beliefs on anyone else considering that they all live in secular states, I think that the way that you said what you said came off as dismissive and extremely disrespectful. I genuinely for the life of me do not understand how or why atheists and other non-christians write like this, because it helps literally no one and it alienates Christians who might consider holding your beliefs, as it turns it in a “us versus them” discussion. In the future, I honestly would either ignore posts that you disagree with like I have been until now, or find more respectful ways to get your opinions out.

Now as for Jeffalo, what I think he should do is first make a statement warning users not to participate in this situation, and lock all posts with the new post locking feature that relate to this drama. I don’t think he should lock this post, because assuming all people have good faith, this post should hopefully stay respectful and clean.

To summarize: I loathe participating in or seeing drama, but I think my points need to be said. Thank you for reading all of this, and I hope you all have a great day.

“These comments might be strong, but it's how I genuinely feel. I don't care that you're a Christian. I don't care what the Bible says like.

I feel like it's a clown show like sitting here, trying to decipher what your little mythical book has to say about these very real political issues, right? I don't care if you're Christian. In fact, I will fight for you to have your religious liberty and practice your Christianity.

I believe in that I don't believe in Christianity, which means that you do not get to dictate the way I live my life based on your religion. I don't care what the Bible says you have every right in the world. All those women who identify with your religion have every right in the world to not Abortion to not take birth control, but they do not have the right to dictate my life.

And when I decide to do with my body, I don't care about your g****** religion. I'm so tired of having non-stop conversations about what the Bible says you live your life in the way that you interpret the Bible again. I don't care, but you don't get to take the Bible and tell me while the Bible says this in this chapter in this course, I don't care.

I don't care, I don't believe in it. And I have the right based on our Constitution to not believe it”

My blog’s backend was getting really convoluted and monolithic, so I asked Gemini 3.5 Flash to completely refactor and split it up and wow, it did an AMAZING job.

It did forget a few things and I had to fix some things manually, but it should be way more reliable and faster now. Not sure if anyone’s found any bugs yet but if you do please let me know :D

Homosexuality is not something you “struggle with,” it is something you are born with. If you are “struggling” with it, you’re probably just in denial, which then of course leads to internalised homophobia and therefore projections.

The part of the bible saying it is a sin to lie with a man as one a woman is an abomination is actually a mistranslation. This did not appear in any English translation of the bible until 1946. In ancient Greek and historical German translations (such as Martin Luther’s 1534 Bible), the terms used like “arsenokoitai” and “knabenschander” referred explicitly to exploitative relationships, such as child molestation, master-slave rape, or temple prostitution.

Passages in Leviticus (such as Leviticus 18:22) are part of holiness codes that also ban eating shellfish or wearing mixed fabrics. How come you would choose to selectively enforce the passages that benefit you but not the others?

Matthew 7:1–2: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged..."

John 8:7: Jesus explicitly challenges a crowd looking to punish a woman by saying, "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her."

Romans 2:1: "You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself..."

I've never let blatant homophobia, transphobia etc get to me before but it starts to get really degrading when that's all that's getting pushed to my feed.

To all homophobes and transphobes, I hope you have a truly terrible pride month

oh, that’s moot reposting transphobia…
