some light bedtime reading. i'm sure the ‘graduate’ part is just an exaggeration. (right?)

hi if you go to a university open day, please if possible ask questions. there are few things more devastating that having someone say “uh yeah can you just like tell me about the course?”. you can look up the course details online! ask me interesting questions that actually need a human to answer them.
having said that, speaking to prospective students is always a joy so don't let me put you off.

It feels like there should be a really efficient algorithm for finding eigenvalues of a symmetric matrix. But there isn't (depending on your criteria for efficiency). sad :(
Here's my 6-step study plan for success* in university exams. 10 out of 10 dentists who have tried the Pufferfish Study Plan would recommend it**. Written by a successful* compsci undergraduate.
Feeling tired? Become accustomed to turning your alarm off when it goes off, and go back to sleep for another 90 minutes (at least). Sleep is very important for exam performance.
Work due in at 6pm on a Wednesday? Do the first question the week before, then the remaining questions starting at 2pm on the day of the deadline, making sure to give yourself 20 minute breaks in between doing each question.
Exams are in 3 weeks, but you don't yet know the difference between Bellman-Ford and Floyd-Warshall, or BFGS and conjugate gradient descent, or a Herbrand model and and a Herband expansion? No worries, just make sure you make flashcards and then forget to look at them until 2 days before your exam.
Missed a lecture because of point number 1? No worries, the knowledge will travel into your brain by osmosis if you think about it hard enough. Or I suppose you could watch the lecture online if you really want to, but no pressure.
Thirsty? Drink water.
7 past papers due in by Friday to be marked? Good luck.
Just do well. Like, seriously, it can't be that hard, right?
Let me know if this works for you :D

i don’t usually listen to music but i did today. now it’s 00:22 and i’m listening to Freddie Mercury tell me not to stop him now…
i have not had time to read for pleasure (as opposed to for work) for 6 weeks and i read yesterday and it was amazing! i am so fed up of staring at a screen… the woes of a CS student
