Someone should do a double-blind study to see if people can actually tell the difference between 60hz, 120hz, and 240hz displays. I’m convinced it’s just a placebo effect, and no one can actually tell.
Even if the human eye can't see that fast, it still makes a difference because the light from the frame is cast
You could design a test with this where something shows just for a frame at different frame rates
It appears to work, and while I can definitely see the object appearing even at 144 FPS
