google did such a cute thing for the AT today

I still have yet to do McAfee’s knob (the drawing), which is embarrassing cause I currently live like half an hour from there, but one of these days before it gets too cold I will definitely go see it

if my body feels a bit better tomorrow I’ll go walk a bit of the AT just to get out and about

second paragraph

ah I see

I honestly never knew that was specifically a north american term, good to know

i have only ever heard that word in the context of:

  • doorknob

  • knobs you use to adjust thinks (eg car AC)

  • british “vulgar slang”

I grew up hearing it a lot in reference to places, and I just kinda assumed it was a common term everywhere. Apparently it’s not even really a big thing elsewhere in the US or Canada either, the vast majority of examples online are from the Appalachians.

Every time I go to drive south for college I pass this mountain which is called Signal Knob.

There are loads of other mountains around here with ‘knob’ in the name, so it’s super fascinating to me that it’s rarer in other places

way to ruin a sentence lol

I probably should have capitalized it at least 😭
