fun fact:
trying to do algebra without writing things down is like trying to assemble something in your hands without a table
guess what happens when you try to do that with something big and complicated
you drop and break stuff

Mental algebra is not too difficult, but it is useful to write your steps down
I’m very good at mental algebra (not general maths though) but that’s just because I practice, and I run out of paper a lot.
