I am a huge proponent of puerto rico statehood though
Yeah they just don’t want to add another blue state without a red state to balance it. That’s why DC should be added to Maryland, because they get representation without messing up the balance of the senate. Puerto Rico needs another red state to balance it out.
DC would bump maryland’s population up and guarantee another democratic representative to the house if you’re thinking that way
My scenario for dc might be enough to actually turn virginia red in exchange, but it could never happen because it would take away a third of our population and a big part of the economy

Yeah, if the Republicans were willing to shift slightly to the center, they could probably win several states like Virginia or New Mexico. Puerto Rico would probably be different from all the other states though, it's just a completely different culture.
Greenland can be independent if they want they don’t want to as Denmark give them money.
