For any criticism regarding this movie, yes: it's a film made for the fans. It's not designed for those not familiar with the Mario franchise. But if you are a fan then there's a massive chance you'll enjoy it. The references, characters, small musical cues, BIG MUSICAL CUES and everything else just make it absolutely phenomenal, not to mention the talented voice actors. I got chills multiple times and came away from the movie just feeling generally good. 9/10 would recommend!
