Watching the smartereveryday videos about manufacturing in America makes me think the real problem is not just in companies seeking profit above everything else. People do the same thing. We like to put all the blame on greedy companies when we’re just as greedy.
For example no one wants to become a tool and die operator like in the video, because you’re never going to get rich from it. I guess this is just called deindustrialization.
One of the good things about having an uncommon name (at least for America) is there’s no stereotypes for what I have to act like
People hate on non-STEM or liberal arts majors (for good reason, there’s no jobs), but one thing I don’t like about being in a STEM major is the lack of interest. People are only doing engineering, chemistry, and math classes so they can get a job after. Even the professors are just focused on getting you through the tests. Whereas in my language class, people actually care about their major. It really sucks because math and chemistry are beautiful, we just don’t seem to care about them. We only care about our careers.
