Looks like Opera GX is now injecting adverts for credit cards directly through the browser via pop-ups. Microsoft Edge got in trouble for similar behaviour when they advertised buy now pay later schemes. No idea why a browser company would willingly hurt their image like this, especially one that constantly mocks Microsoft Edge themselves. Opera already got in trouble in for predatory loan apps (screenshot isn’t mine, saw it when I was browsing the Firefox subreddit).

Yikes. I use Firefox instead of Edge or Opera because it doesn't shove coupons and stuff in your face when you're browsing the internet
yet another reason to not use it (they do other scummy stuff too I think)
I don't know, I used to use Opera but I just don't like it anymore. More gimmicky than useful imo. Firefox is my preferred now.
And yet @/grunklebillsback constantly tries to get me to use Opera GX “but it has a free VPN and a ram limiter!”
I tried it once and I don't like it. I used to use normal Opera back in the day but moved to Firefox and stuck with that since. Opera GX to me isn't very nice looking, I'm not a fan of the "gamer" UI and gimmicks. Also idk how Opera can call it a VPN when it's a proxy the last time I checked unless you use the paid version of it.
Mega cringe. Ads like that baked into a browser that also has a built in adblocker is next level irony.
