The wasteof election has officially started! The election will end at midnight on August 15th (Switzerland/Wasteof time) Voting will open in 24 hours, and continues to the end of the election.
Voting rules:
Vote on the official voting post, scheduled to launch 24 hours from now.
Votes may be cast anytime from opening until the end of the election on Aug 15th.
The candidate who has the most votes at the end of the election is the winner.
Votes are changeable, change your vote at any time, as many times as you want.
One vote per person, not account. Trying to vote on multiple accounts will invalidate all of your votes.
You must be a real personal account to vote that was created before August 8th 2026. (eg: namesnipes would not be valid)

Considering this feedback, an election will be happening soon. Start thinking about if you want to run, or what campaign you’d like to run. However, do NOT start campaigning or posting too much about the election. The yearly election takes over wasteof for long enough, and that would just be annoying :) Rules will soon be realeased to signal the start of the election

The presumptive winner of the presidential election is @kiwi, subject to certifying the votes. The winner will be officially declared, and sworn into office, at a later time.

ELECTION RULES
Voting starts on Monday, 30th June 2025 at 00:00 BST and ends on Monday, 7th July 2025 at 0:00 BST. Any votes cast outside of this window will not be valid.
1 vote per person. Any attempt to vote on more than 1 account will result in all your votes being invalidated. Candidates can still vote for themselves (or another person?).
You must have joined wasteof before Friday, 27th of June 2025, and have made at least 3 posts between January 1st 2024 and Friday, 27th of June 2025 to vote.
If you are running, and you attempt to boost your campaign in an unfair way, you will be immediately disqualified from the election and become ineligible to run in any future elections.
If you are running for president, you may not also be another candidate’s VP nominee. (However, you can still be appointed as a cabinet member by the winner.)
The winner of the election will be announced between the end of the election and Wednesday, 9th of July 2025 at 23:59, and they will officially become president on Friday, 11th of July 2025.
You may not change your vote, unless the person you voted for has been disqualified.
- FAILURE TO CONFIRM YOUR RUNNING MATE BY WEDNESDAY WILL RESULT IN YOUR DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE ELECTION.
Your running mate may not be an alt account of yourself.
These rules are subject to change.
