the fact he didn't spell “department” correctly when making a meme about shutting down the department of education shows almost perfectly why having a department of education is a good idea lmao
happy st patricks day to my celtic brethren over in ireland and northern ireland, and of course everyone else all over the world who celebrates!
i can’t believe it’s been 3 years since da-ta and Auriali were banished, it’s so heartbreaking, especially as the march of time continues relentlessly. I yearn for the day that da-ta and Auriali are brought home to us. while that hope may dwindle for some, i hold out hope until my dying breath. #JusticeForda-ta #JusticeForAuriali
For once this dork is right. This account is the same age as da-ta and initially I used to be in the same character I am on the Auriali Scratch account, but eventually I realised it made more sense to use this account as my normal "post whenever and whatever I want” while keeping da-ta as the “make an actual decent post once a month”. What I never expected was to get elected @president (I will continue posting there soonish), get verified before my main account (take that da-ta, you lame blocky dummy), and have the amount of followers I do (I will catch up to da-ta and rub his stupid blocks in my victory for millennia). So as I said already, thank you, I appreciate how many of you seem to like my insane ramblings about design, music, politics, and more while I stumble and try to write something that doesn’t sound like a 9-year-old. Here’s to many more posts and monies wasted!
On this day 3 years ago, I joined this website. I initially joined on this account and @Auriali the same day. What I didn’t expect was to still be here with now 100+ followers on each, being verified, and have a myriad of other accounts and even a brand account lol. I remember still when I and other designers joined here on the same day, folks like my good pals @perrin, @micah and @burrito (follow them), it was pretty hectic getting my bearings, but weirdly enough I sorta started to find my vibe here and got into a groove. There’s been a few ups and downs, but what I’ve come to appreciate is how wasteof doesn’t try to feed me what it thinks I want, rather letting me control my experience. And I mean sure, the site is small, but I think part of the fun of this place is the niche of it, a place built mostly by one Swiss dude since he owned the funny domain name. I’ve now also been around long enough to see mobile apps be made, browser extensions, and even wasteof3 and wasteof4 (which I am hyped about). Anyway, I just wanna thank you, whether you follow here for my high effort stuff, or my near enough brainrot on Auri, I appreciate it. Here’s to hopefully more years of wasting money!
sorry guys I unplugged the wasteof server thinking it was the hairdryer so I could charge my phone
had a camera put down my throat again today, how has your day been going?
I don't get why Microsoft is killing Skype, all they had to do to make it popular again is shove a ton of random AI features that no one wants nor has any real world application for most average users because the people who lead these companies are so rich they are divorced from reality and don't know what an average person's problem is even if it hit them in the face but irregardless of this fact these mostly unnecessary features are touted as the future because the line must go up at all costs or else a large segment of the tech sector explodes because business is no longer about providing a good product but rather chasing growth at any and all costs. It worked for Windows, everyone loves Windows and has nothing bad to say about it whatsoever. So yeah, rest in pepperoni Skype or something lol.
awesome without wesome, a u found abandoned under a bridge, an r that rolled down a hill near my least favourite toothpaste museum, an i which was seen lying on the pavement near my favourite deli, an extra a (cloned with a futuristic device i have acquired via a time machine i built), an l found loitering near the local tesco metro, and another i (cloned via the aforementioned futuristic device i have acquired via a time machine i built) is me
Mild politics warning
One of the more interesting contradictions I find with Elon Musk is his distain for Wikipedia, not just because he used to like it and understand why it's a valuable website, but also because he literally benefits from how it functions.
If you look at the Community Notes feature on Twitter, it's functions in a similar manner to Wikipedia. On Wikipedia, when someone edits an article and claims something, it can be verified by anyone since Wikipedia requires citations from reliable sources, on top of that, there are “Talk” pages for every article where users can discuss changes and improvements to articles. Now look at Community Notes, when a tweet claims something, users can write notes that add context or fact check the tweet, these notes require a citation to be added from a reliable source, they are then voted upon by other users, and are eventually displayed if it gets voted positively enough from a diverse array of users.
I dunno about you, but these two systems sound kinda similar, both are volunteer driven, push for neutrality by getting diverse groups to come to a decision, and emphasize sourcing from reliable places. Yet Elon complains how Wikipedia is biased, but then touts Community Notes as a perfect system, yet calls it biased when it correct him.
It's funny how Elon hates Wikipedia yet has implemented a system that is essentially a Wikipedia that corrects him directly. Maybe he doesn't like it when folks point out when he lies?
