Zohran winning outright in a major election gives me hope that maybe our current election system isn’t entirely screwed and that maybe positive change in this nation can occur without necessitating a complete overhaul of our electoral process.

Even with the entire deck stacked against him, with billionaires spending millions on his opponent, with every major news outlet fear mongering about his religion or background or socialist beliefs, he managed to win, because he proved his worth by meeting New Yorkers on the streets, in their homes, at their churches and mosques, at sports games, and at social gatherings. Everywhere he went he asked everyday people “What are the struggles you face as a New Yorker, and how can the government help resolve or ease those burdens?” Then he laid out a clear, concise plan to fund practical solutions. His policies can and will make life objectively, measurably easier for New Yorkers.

Every politician should learn from his example. He ran a flawless campaign. Thanks to him I’m optimistic about the direction of American politics and the electability of progressive policies again.

Ads on sports uniforms as a concept always looks worse than no ads and I will die on this hill

Soccer jerseys should take a page out of world rugby’s book and only have the maker’s logo and crest on the jersey, if you absolutely need ads then small ones on the sleeves or below the back collar are ideal. They don’t always look bad and some ads on the chest are about as tasteful as they can be, but they’d look better without them. I’m also way more in favor of local companies being sponsored than massive multi-billion dollar international corporations. Big companies are fine so long as they have logical logistic ties to the team they’re sponsoring, otherwise it feels like a money-grubbing ploy for both parties. If it’s not Dunkin or Wayfair sponsoring the Boston Legacy, I don’t want it

The MLB and NBA both look significantly worse with sponsor patches, especially if they clash with the team’s color scheme or have a solid background container (love’s sponsoring the thunder looked awful, for example)
