As we near the end of the election, @kiwi and @oren are still close in votes. After @tallpeter’s unfortunate assassination, @kiwi and @oren are the only main candidates. Today is the last day to vote, so if you have any political opinions at all and have not voted yet, now's the time! Of course, make sure to research the candidates before you vote. It is not exactly comparing apples to oranges. It’s more like comparing kiwis to orenges.

So far in the election, Oren and Kiwi are still close in votes, but Oren is winning by one vote (as of the time of this edit). there has been a lot of truthful and possibly untruthful talk about the candidates. The wasteof feed is full of candidates’ promises and unofficial debates, many of them about truth, waffles, and the wasteof presidency. because of this, @kiwi announced that he would not be retaliatively posting as much and has deleted past posts.

Las Vegas, USA
On Monday, June 30th, voting begins! Currently, the candidates are @/oren, @/kiwi, @/kyletech, @/sixfourlu, @/pufferfish101007, @/wynd, @/v1, and @/the-owlsss. many candidates have promised improvements during their reign presidency including lower waffle taxes, free waffles, bigger cheese caves, and more. As is usual, the competitive candidates have already started campaigning for themselves and against each other.
this election will have a few different rules concerning voting, as there will be no changing votes after you’ve cast your first vote. several presidential candidates, including @/kiwi and @/oren, have already chosen the majority of their cabinets and officials.

Today on wasteof there’s been some controversy about @blaze’s post which included his political views. many wasteofers have been joking/protesting about his views, and the post has been reposted eleven times so far. many people have backed away from posting about politics altogether.
Today @pixilized came back to wasteof, after being gone since late May.

Yesterday
Congratulations to both @slider_on_the_black and @toaks, who both reached 75 followers yesterday.
Yesterday Jeffalo changed the explore page so it counts by following instead of followers. He hasn’t posted anything about it so far, and many wasteofers were surprised by the sudden change.

2024 Wasteof News - August 1, 2024
Hello wasteof! today isn’t just the first day of August-it’s also the first day of @2024wasteofnews! Since there wasn’t anymore election news to report about, I changed the name from @2024electionnews to @2024wasteofnews. I’m on a mission to be an unbiased reporter of all wasteof news until at least the end of the year. Who knows? I might even change the name to @2025wasteofnews and keep posting. Also, FYI if I followed you today, I followed everyone on @leaderboard’s top 100 list.
Today wasteof is celebrating @auriali’s election. Many of her supporters and even some of her rivals have been congratulating her and her chosen vice-president, @perrin. President Auriali isn’t just celebrating her election today. Today her scratch account, da-ta, has been around for 9 years, and she has reached 100 followers on wasteof!

so, now the election’s over, and there’s no more election news to report on. I’ve decided to change the name of this alt to @2024wasteofnews at 5:30pm English Standard Time, which is in about thirty minutes (when this was posted). Right now I’m deciding what pfp and banner I should use.
I know there’s been other wasteof news accounts (@daily_news for example). Most of them have gradually stopped posting. I’m going to try to post every other day starting today, so I’ll post today and then i’ll post on Friday and then on Sunday and so on. I’m going to try to be unbiased on this account and post the biased things on my main account lol.

BREAKING NEWS! @auriali won the election!
Congratulations @auriali and @perrin!
Last night at midnight @auriali became the president of wasteof! Her chosen vice-president, @perrin, is now the vice-president. Thank you president @auriali for all the hard work you put into your campaign. Also, @toaks has become @auriali’s appointed treasurer. President Auriali, don’t forget to claim your celebratory waffles from @kiwi!
